My Wedding Story by Ceri

The day after Jack’s proposal I asked my close friend Ashlea to be Matron of Honour.

We asked her two brothers Scott and Kris to be the best man and one of the groomsmen.

Ashlea’s son Riley was the obvious choice as page boy.

Jack and I have known their family for as long as we’ve known each other.  They are like a second family to us.

For the other groomsman, Jack chose my eldest brother Adam, as they both share a strong friendship.

My other two bridesmaids, Dannielle and Jasmine were girlfriends I made during the six years I had lived in Australia, who coincidentally are both hairdressers.

The three junior bridesmaids were Jack’s three younger sisters: Ella, Cara and Maisie.

Organising The Details:

February 2011 – My Mum and I went to Perth and saw two dresses that I liked, but felt that I must try at least another four hundred before I could make my mind up.  Unfortunately  time got away from me, and before I knew it, we were in October 2011 without having made a decision!

I ordered the dress I loved from the local wedding shop called Zoo Bridal, but being uncertain it would arrive in time I decided to visit Bridal World with my cousin in Hong Kong.  It’s a huge complex of shops that make and sell everything relating to weddings.

That’s where we found the exact bridesmaid dresses that I wanted.  I had them made in coral with matching ties for the groomsmen.  In the same shop I tried on a beautiful princess dress.  It fitted like a glove so I bought it on impulse.

Closer to the wedding, I couldn’t stop thinking about the first dress that I had ordered and then I received a phone call two weeks before my wedding day, to say that my dress had arrived in store.

We rushed down to see it and instantly I knew this  was the dress – the only problem however, was that it arrived two sizes too big!  Knowing there was not enough time to get another dress sent, I turned into a Bridezilla!

The Zoo Bridal staff were so helpful.  They organised immediate alterations, and the dress was ready with two days to spare.

When I tried it on, I burst into tears of joy.  It was perfect!!!

The Cake:

We had a good family friend called Jacko who is a burly rugby player/gym instructor.  He has a passion for cake making and offered to make our wedding cake.  He made cake samples for us to try, and they were delicious.  Rather than choose between them, we had white chocolate mud on the base, rich chocolate mud in the middle and traditional fruit cake for the top layer.

We had intended to keep some, but it was so nice, that it was eaten before the end of the weekend.

The Venue:

Jack and I viewed many locations as we wanted a beach wedding, yet with traditional elements.  The Cut Golf Course was the perfect choice.  Our ceremony would overlook the ocean, as the sun set out on the 2nd tee, and we would be received to a celebration, back at the club house.

The day before the Wedding was very exciting, yet very stressful.  I burnt my lips while having my teeth whitened, so they were swollen and double the size.  Everyone said I looked like Angelina Jolie, but all I saw was frog lips, so I cried!!

All beauty treatments done on myself and bridesmaids, we then went to meet the boys for the rehearsal at The Cut; Jack and all the boys had been playing golf and having beers – when I arrived we were total opposites.  Me stressed to hell, and them all to the point of being horizontal with relaxation! AAAAHHHHHHHH!

The rehearsal was terrible.  Trying to get the boys to cooperate was a nightmare!  They were too busy joking around and having fun!  They do say “bad rehearsals = good wedding” so when I left Jack, I did start to wind down.  The boys all went to our house, while the bridesmaids and I went to my mums house.  We intended to watch chick-flicks and have an early night.

It didn’t happen like that, as all seven of us ended up sleeping in the same room.

The Big Day:

6.00 am  Woke up and went down to the kitchen where Mum and Dad made a big breakfast for all of us

7.00 am Hairdressers arrived

8.00 am  Make-up artist arrived

9.00 am  Photographer arrived

11.00 am  Cinematographer arrived

12 noon  Getting the dress on

2.00pm  Cars arrived

3.00pm  Ceremony at the 2nd tee, The Cut Golf Course

6.00pm Reception at The Cut Club House

After everybody left to go to the ceremony, I enjoyed some really special time with my Dad. We got into the car and as we started on down towards The Cut, Dad held my hand and chatted to reassure me.  When we pulled in to the venue he asked, “Are you sure you want to marry Jack?”  I didn’t hesitate, “Yes” I said.

My wedding day went perfectly it flew by and I watch the video regularly to remind me of all the things I enjoyed, didn’t remember or missed.

My clients and staff at my beauty salon get to see my wedding day every day on the TV in the salon reception area.

This was one of the best purchases we made for the wedding!

We loved all the beautiful details of Ceri and Jack’s day and the ceremony setting by the sea.  We wish them a wonderful life full of love, fun and adventure as they enjoy their married life together!
